The Sacred Guard are an auxiliary force in the Caradian Legions. Made up mostly of Vosanski volunteers, this force has a reputation among Caradians as being invincible and brutal. The force is maintained by the independent Vosanski ethnic group, although it accepts non-Flemic Caradian citizens as well. The force, while not directly under control of the Caradian monarch, effectively serves as a special operations unit for the Caradian Legions, due to the close alliance between the monarch and the Vosanski Patriarch.

Training Methods

Sacred Guard training has a reputation for being particularly brutal service. The Vosanski leaders intend to instill an undying loyalty to both the Vosanski leadership and the Caradian crown. This is done through a method known as "psionic reinforcement". Higher ranking Sacred Guard will leave new recruits in a room with a psionic Vosanski, who will assault the mind of the trainee repeatedly. This is done not only to empower the the trainee's ability to resist psionic assault, but also to create what Vosanski call "psionic resonance". This allows Vosanski commanders to issue limited telepathic orders, as well as control the actions of the individual to a minor degree. This torturous training method is part of the reason the Sacred Guard have their brutal reputation.

Research

Vosanski are largely responsible for Caradia's military research, employing some of the best scientists in the Duchy to work on highly experimental weapons and equipment. These research items are highly confidential, and are only tested on the battlefield once they have been determined to have an 80% chance of success. These weapons and items are designed to be utilised by both the Caradian Legions and the Sacred Guard, though certain items are disallowed use in the Caradian Legions, as their use is considered dishonourable and/or deceitful.

Genetic experimentation and morphological research are the secondary branch of Sacred Guard research. The Vosanski Patriarch has deemed it reasonable to allow experimentation on human subjects, so Sacred Guard scientists have striven to determine whether it is possible to create a superior human soldier through artificial means. The department has had limited success in this respect. Incidentally, the Vosanski Patriarch has also decreed research should be done to mutant war beasts to be unleashed on enemies.

Quantum Stealth	This item is designed to bend photons around the target, in order to render it virtually invisible. It's likely that further research in this field will allow for material that also deflects infrared.
HVR	The High Veloctiy Railgun is designed to launch missiles in a lateral direction at hypersonic velocity. This project is projected to have an estimated range of 113 km. It is theorised that this project may be utilised as a static national defense measure. The successful prototype on board the CSS Saint prompts the HVR's use in the Egidă system.
LRSTUT	Long-Range Self-Targeting Unmanned Turret is designed to fire a ten bullet salvo of .50 caliber bullets with pinpoint accuracy at distances equal to long-range rifles. The turret is designed to fire automatically at significant sources of infrared radiation. Possible uses include mounting on vehicles.
LPIL	Low-Power Incapacitation Laser is designed to temporarily blind targets at long range. This weapon is designed for incapacitation of targets designated for capture.
HPML	High-Power Microwave Laser is an anti-armour weapon designed to melt/disintigrate/combust most alloys and artificial products utilised as armour on armoured vehicles such as tanks.
HFEMP	High Frequency Electromagnetic Pulse is a theoretical bomb design intended for the disabling of vehicles and electrical equipment and grids.
Null Shield	A layer of polarised particles that is intended to surround Caradian-aligned vehicles to create an antipathetic frequency and protect from HFEMP, in order to detonate HFEMPs while Caradian-aligned ordinance is within range.
