This Meta page is the guide to taking part in the 1759 general election. It sets out the calendar, the rules, how campaigns are judged, how citizens vote, and how characters outside the Federal Assembly can shape the race through endorsements.

Election calendar

The election runs on the schedule below. Times and time zones are confirmed in the announcements on the NAX Discord server; the in-world polling date is 15-17.IX.1759 AN.

Phase When What happens
Campaign opens Sunday, August 16 Parties begin campaigning. Every party should have a campaign page, a manifesto, and its leadership and candidates named.
Campaigning Through Saturday, August 22 Parties and candidates make their case on their wiki pages and across the campaign channels.
Ballot opens Thursday, August 20 Voting opens on the server. The voter roll and the participating party slate are frozen once it does.
Ballot closes Sunday, August 23 Voting closes. No further votes are counted.
Results night Sunday, August 23 The results are released live in the Discord live-events channel.

Citizenship and party participation stay open until the ballot opens. Once voting begins, the voter roll and the party slate are locked.

Election rules

Below are the rules and expectations for the campaign. For a fuller walk-through of how to run a campaign, see the Guide to Campaigning.

How campaigns are judged

The result reflects two things: the citizen ballot, and the quality of each party's campaign record. Campaign quality is assessed across three areas.

Area Weight What counts
Platform 40% A campaign page on MicrasWiki, a manifesto or platform, leadership and candidates named, and a clear case for support built on specific priorities rather than slogans.
Campaigning 35% Meaningful posts on the campaign trail, participation in hustings and debates, answers to questions and criticism, and specific ideas tied to Regions, issues, and characters. Quality and consistency matter more than volume.
Mobilization 25% Turning supporters into eligible Citizens before the ballot opens, helping them understand when and how to vote, and real participation rather than simply holding a party role. No spam, pressure, or empty engagement.

This is not a volume contest. A short, clear, active campaign is stronger than a pile of empty posts.

Rules of campaigning

To keep the campaign fair and readable:

  • Keep messages clear and concise.
  • Do not edit messages once posted on Discord.
  • Use relevant graphics to support the campaign.
  • Share documents through MicrasWiki or as PDFs.
  • Host any number of campaign events.
  • Speeches may be reused, but no more than twice per election.
  • Direct election questions to the support channel, not by direct message to an Administrator.

Writing your manifesto

The manifesto is the heart of the 40% platform score, and the document every other part of the campaign points back to. A strong one is specific where a weak one is vague.

A manifesto should:

  • Name the party leadership and the candidates standing for it.
  • Set out three to five priorities the party will pursue, each tied to a real Region, issue, or community rather than a slogan.
  • Say what the party would actually do about each priority, and who it helps.
  • Make its case in a page or two of clear argument; a tight document beats a long list nobody finishes.

Post the manifesto on the party's campaign page on MicrasWiki so it can be linked, quoted, and judged. A copy-paste skeleton is in Templates to copy below.

Running your campaign

The campaign is where the manifesto meets the voters, and it carries the 35% campaigning score and the 25% mobilization score. What counts is a steady, visible effort, not a wall of posts.

A strong campaign:

  • Makes its case regularly on the campaign page and across the campaign channels, keeping the message consistent.
  • Holds events players can take part in: rallies, soapbox speeches, question-and-answer sessions, and the hustings and debates as they are called.
  • Answers questions and criticism directly, rival parties included, instead of talking past them.
  • Ties its arguments to specific Regions, issues, and characters, using the regional alignments to pitch to the places in play.
  • Turns supporters into eligible Citizens before the ballot opens and helps them understand when and how to vote.

Quality and consistency matter more than volume. A short, active, honest campaign beats a pile of empty posts, and spam or pressure counts against a party rather than for it.

Election system

The Federal Assembly, the Federation's legislative body, has 801 Deputies elected proportionally from the thirteen Regions. A majority is 401 seats. A party is eligible for seats in a Region when it wins at least two percent of that Region's vote.

Political alignments

Political alignments, for both Regions and parties, use a four-axis system from -1.0 to +1.0:

Axis -1.0 0.0 +1.0
Economic policy Left-wing Centrist Right-wing
Social policy Liberal Moderate Conservative
Geographic tendency Urban Neutral Rural
Cultural tendency Populist Neutral Elitist

To place a party, evaluate its policies on each axis and assign a value from -1.0 to +1.0, where 0.0 is neutral or centrist. Combine the four values to form the party's overall alignment.

Endorsements

Endorsements let characters outside the Federal Assembly throw their public weight behind a party, a cause, or a candidate, and give that campaign a small poll bump.

Who can endorse
  • Any citizen of Nouvelle Alexandrie who is not a sitting member of the Federal Assembly.
  • The Royal Family may not endorse; the Crown stays above the contest.
  • Sitting Deputies campaign; they do not endorse.
What can be endorsed
One per endorsement: a party, a specific policy or cause from a manifesto, or a named candidate of any party.
How to endorse
Post once in the endorsements thread with three things: who your character is (name and what they are known for), what or whom you endorse, and one line on why.
What it does
An Administrator sets a tier by how prominent your character is, rolls for the bump, and applies it to the campaign's national polling.
Tier Who Poll bump
Tier A - National Great nobles, national celebrities, former ministers, heads of major institutions +1.0% (or 1d10 in the range 0.5%-1.0%)
Tier B - Regional Regional nobles and officials, notable local figures 1d10 to determine; +0.5% if it lands
Tier C - Minor Everyone else Mostly flavor; 1d10 for a small chance of a plus or minus 0.25% swing, at the Administrator's discretion
Limits
One endorsement per character for the election, and endorsement bumps for any one party cap at +3% nationally.

Dice rolls and randomness

Two parts of the campaign are settled by a roll of a ten-sided die (1d10). An Administrator makes the rolls in the open on the NAX Discord server so every player can see the result.[1]

Campaign effectiveness

Once the campaign opens, each party gets one 1d10 roll for how effectively it is running its campaign: the reach of its message and manifesto, its organization on the ground, and how well it turns support into votes. The roll shapes a campaign's momentum through polling day. It feeds into the campaign record that, together with the citizen ballot, decides the result; it does not set the seat count on its own.[2]

Roll Result What it means
1 Collapse The campaign comes apart: message incoherent, organization broken, supporters drifting.
2 Crisis A scandal, gaffe, or split has knocked the campaign off its feet; endorsements and volunteers walk.
3 Struggling Afloat but adrift, with thin crowds, a message that is not landing, and little money or morale.
4 Below par Operational but poorly run; the manifesto is out, but nothing behind it is moving voters.
5 Steady Functional and hitting the basic marks, holding its own vote and little more.
6 Solid Well organized and on message, starting to cut through, though soft spots remain.
7 Strong Good funding, a clear case, and an energized base, winning the argument across most of the country.
8 Very strong Sharp, well funded, and disciplined, with a ground game drawing in new support.
9 Exceptional Near-flawless execution and broad momentum, setting the terms of the race.
10 Historic A campaign for the textbooks: total message discipline, an overwhelming ground operation, a surge no rival can answer.

As a quick guide, a roll of 1 to 3 is a campaign in trouble and losing ground, 4 to 6 is a working campaign with real gaps to close, 7 to 9 is a strong, well-run campaign gathering momentum, and 10 is a once-in-a-generation performance.

Endorsement rolls

Endorsements are settled by the same die, on the tiers set out under Endorsements above: a Tier A backer can be worth up to a full point of national polling, a Tier B backer half a point, and a Tier C backer a small swing either way. The rolls are made in the open in the same way.

Participating campaigns

Voting and ballot information

Voting takes place on the NAX Discord server. Every Citizen of Nouvelle Alexandrie has a vote, whether or not they hold a seat or belong to a party. The ballot opens on Thursday, August 20 and closes on Sunday, August 23; the voter roll is frozen when the ballot opens.

Regional political alignments

The four-axis rating of each Region is recorded in the table below, using the scale defined under Political alignments. Each rating is an estimate drawn from the Region's recent electoral record and its economic and cultural profile; it is a guide for campaigns, not a prediction of the result. The At a glance column translates each Region's four ratings into plain terms, and the Economic column is shaded to help you scan: warmer cells lean left, cooler cells lean right.

Region Economic Social Geographic Cultural At a glance
Alduria +0.1 -0.6 -0.2 +0.3 Centrist economy, strongly liberal, urban-leaning; establishment-minded
Wechua Nation -0.2 +0.2 +0.5 +0.2 Center-left and traditional; rural highland, institution-minded
Santander +0.2 +0.5 -0.2 +0.7 Center-right and conservative; urban, aristocratic establishment
Federal Capital District -0.1 -0.7 -0.9 +0.6 Progressive urban capital; cosmopolitan and institution-minded
Valencia -0.5 -0.3 +0.1 -0.1 Left-wing, mildly liberal; mixed town and country, grassroots
Isles of Caputia +0.5 +0.3 -0.6 +0.8 Wealthy right-leaning finance islands; conservative, elite establishment

South Lyrica -0.4 -0.2 +0.2 -0.2 Left-leaning, mildly liberal; rural-leaning, grassroots
Islas de la Libertad +0.1 0.0 0.0 +0.1 Centrist across the board; a genuine swing region
