Justice Committee of Klaasiya

The Justice Committee of Klaasiya, also known as the Permanent Committee on Justice, is a committee of the National Assembly of Klaasiya established at the fourt meeting of the first session of the Assembly on 9 Geburtsber 1695. The committee exercises broad powers over areas such as justice, police and crime, nominations and appointments made by the National Assembly as well as scrutiny over the executive President.

Business of the Committee

14 Liebluary 1696 - Inaugural meeting

The Justice Committee's first meeting was heldon 11 Liebluary 1696, and was presided over its Chair Angela Novaistorya. The Committee's agreed the following:

1. The Committee shall conduct a recruitment and selection process to nominate seat of Associate Justice of the Constitutional Court under the jurisdiction of the National Assembly. Each Committee member may propose or nominate candidates. The Committee shall recommend between 2 and 3 candidates to the National Assembly.
2. The Committee shall review not earlier than 1698 and not later than 1700 the President's action of implementing the Klaasoft Funding and Prosperity Act.
3. The Committee shall issue a recommendation to the National Assembly in respect to the form in which the Assembly shall ask the President to report on the state of the republic and its laws.

6 Grunil 1696 - Second meeting

In accordance with the Committee's decisions from 14 Liebluary, the Committee members submitted the following candidates for Associate Justice of the Constitutional Court:

• Amanda Saint: former Chief Justice of the High Court of Gotzborg, and of Alexandria.
• Llyr Angus-Moonoak: former Tsar and President of the Confederate States of Klaasiya.
• Naya Angus-Moonoak: Former Tsarina of Klaasiya.
• Ivo Angus: former Chief Justice of Natopia
• Emily Saryaan: former Head of the Development Authority; candidate for President of the First Imperial Conference of Natopia.
• Sveta Ginsburg: Professor of Law & Ethics at the Ducal University of Klaasiya.
• Yaames Kapuut: Shareholder of the Klaasoft Corporation

15 Grunil 1696 - Third meeting

The Committee approved a motion, proposed by Chair Angela Novaistorya, to grant each committee member two votes, to be cast for a different candidate.
