Prince Inti, Duke of Vilcabamba (Inti Tupaq Eadric Inti-Carrillo y Neridia; born 23.XII.1755 AN) is a member of the House of Inti-Carrillo and second in the line of succession to the throne of Nouvelle Alexandrie. He is the eldest child of Crown Princess Sayari, the heir apparent, and her husband Prince Janus, and the first grandchild of King Sinchi Roca II and Empress Clara. His birth was the first to an heir apparent of Nouvelle Alexandrie in 33 years. On 6.III.1760 AN the Royal Household and the Imperial Household of Natopia announced that his mother was expecting twins.[1] The twins, Prince Pachacútec and Princess Anahí, were born on 9.XII.1760 AN and stand third and fourth in line behind him.[2]
He was created Duke of Vilcabamba by royal decree on 27.I.1756 AN and presented at the Palace of Carranza the same day. The dukedom is a Wechua territorial title, in keeping with the practice of the senior line of the House.
Birth and name
The Prince was born on the evening of 23.XII.1755 AN at the Palace of Carranza in Cárdenas, the first child of Crown Princess Sayari and Prince Janus. King Sinchi Roca II and Empress Clara were both at the palace for the birth, the Empress having traveled from Lindström in the preceding week. He has been a member of the House of Inti-Carrillo from birth and stands second in the line of succession, after his mother.
The Royal Household announced the child's names the following morning. His first name, Inti, is the Wechua name of the sun in the Intic tradition and the root from which the House of Inti-Carrillo takes its name. His second, Tupaq, is a Wechua royal name carried by several rulers of the old Wechua line. His third, Eadric, is the name of his father's house, the House of Eadric of Natopia. Lord Steward de Valencia said the Princess and Prince Janus had chosen the names together and had settled on them before the birth as well as the use of the surname "Inti-Carrillo y Neridia".
Title and succession
King Sinchi Roca II created the Prince Duke of Vilcabamba by royal decree on 27.I.1756 AN, the substantive title that de Valencia had promised at the birth. The Royal Household presented him at the Palace of Carranza the same day. The title is a creation within the gift of the House of Inti-Carrillo, and the Household stated that no constitutional action was required.
Like the titles of the senior line, the dukedom takes its name from the Wechua heartland. Vilcabamba is associated in Wechua tradition with the endurance of the old Wechua line, and the choice was read in Parap and the interior as a deliberate one. As a member of the House, the Prince holds the style of His Royal Highness. He stands second in the line of succession to the throne, after Crown Princess Sayari, under the Proclamation of Punta Santiago and the Succession to the Throne Act, 1700. Under the Treaty of Dynastic Separation of 1721 AN, any grandchild of King Sinchi Roca II and Empress Clara who stands to inherit both thrones must choose one throne and formally renounce the other before accession to either.
Faith
The Royal Household confirmed that the Prince would be raised in the Faith of Inti, the faith of his mother's line. His father, Prince Janus, is Bovic, and his parents had married in 1750 AN in two ceremonies, one Intic and one Bovic.
Betrothal
In 1759 AN the Royal Household announced the betrothal of the Prince to Cacica Anacaona, the granddaughter and heir-in-line of Guarionex II, 1st Prince of Boriquén, and a member of the House of Guarionex, the cacical house of the Wakara people. Anacaona was born within days of the Prince in 1755 AN, and, like him, stands second in line to her inheritance. The Household presented the match as a union of two lines associated with the sun, the Intic and the Wakara, and as a further binding of the Region of Boriquén to the Crown.
Ancestry
Through his mother he is a grandson of King Sinchi Roca II, Sapa Wechua and King of Nouvelle Alexandrie, and of Empress Clara of Natopia. Through his father he descends from the House of Eadric of Natopia. His mother's line reaches back through Empress Clara and Edgard III to Queen Elizabeth I of Caputia, born Regina Ravaillac of the House of Ravaillac; he is the fifth generation in descent from Donat Ravaillac. Prince Janus naturalized as a New Alexandrian citizen in V.1750 AN while retaining his Natopian citizenship.
Through his mother, Inti is also a citizen of the Order of the Holy Lakes (Hurmu) and a knight of the Holy Lakes.
