Infernal Portals
The Infernal Portals were a series of passageways scattered across Micras that were constructed by the Infernals during their foray onto the surface world. The portal were connecting tunnels that led to the Infernals' dark domain, the Evermurk. These giant edifices were built using the arcane majiks of the Infernals and their mechanical devices. Hewn into the solid rock they extended, often in a zig-zag fashion, down through the layers of the crust into the inner world. During the Infernal Wars, several dozen of these portals were opened, allowing the dark armies to flood onto Micras. Early on they battled with the Flying Islands of Jasonia, and then later with Karnali. The portals tended to concentrate on the Fifth Isle, where their center of power originally was, and across northern Keltia, along with locations on Tapfer. Although other portals were known to exist across Micras, including some in Ashinthael and Meckelnburgh, allowing them access to anywhere on the planet. At the war's conclusion, the portals were either sealed or destroyed entirely, mostly by advanced Jasonian technology. Considered so far removed from modern history to have become something of a myth, the location of the portals has long been lost. Though rumors persist that some of these tunnels were not completely destroyed, and that the Infernals are amassing their forces in anticipation of a time when they can break free once again.
