Foundation 1768 is the federal diamond-semiconductor program of Nouvelle Alexandrie, funded under the advanced-sciences strand of the Aldurian Economic Diversification and Recovery Act, 1755. It is named for the year around which the Institute for Strategic Studies projected domestic Alexandrium extraction would peak, and its purpose is to reduce the Federation's reliance on Alexandrium in electronics before that point. The program drew NAX€340 million from the advanced-sciences strand over its first three years.

The work is carried out at the Aldurian Science and Technology Campus in Punta Santiago, Alduria, by two bodies that together form its manufacturing chain: Punta Santiago Substrates, which grows diamond wafers, and the Institute for Wide-Bandgap Electronics, directed by Dr. Inés Carmona, which fabricates them into devices. The program is confined to diamond power electronics; diamond logic devices remain infeasible pending a solution to the n-type doping problem.

In 1757 AN Foundation 1768 produced the first diamond-based power devices manufactured in the Federation, forty-eight boron-doped switching modules installed at the Piriya converter station on the Punta Santiago to Piriya superconducting corridor, which cut switching losses by 18 percent against the silicon devices they replaced. Later work has been directed at power systems for rail traction and aerospace.
