Punta Santiago Substrates is a semiconductor wafer foundry in Punta Santiago, Alduria, in Nouvelle Alexandrie. It grows the diamond wafers used in the diamond power-electronics work of the Institute for Wide-Bandgap Electronics, with which it forms the manufacturing chain of Foundation 1768, the federal diamond semiconductor program.
Operations
The foundry grows diamond wafers and supplies them to the Institute for Wide-Bandgap Electronics at the Aldurian Science and Technology Campus, which fabricates them into devices. Both bodies were established under the advanced-sciences strand of the Aldurian Economic Diversification and Recovery Act, 1755 and together carry out the wafer-to-device work of Foundation 1768.
Wafers grown by the company were used in the first diamond power devices manufactured in the Federation, 48 boron-doped switching modules deployed at the Piriya converter station on the Punta Santiago to Piriya superconducting corridor in 1757 AN. Planned expansion of wafer output extended through 1758 AN, with later production directed at power systems for rail-traction substations and aerospace.
