Eressea
Eressea is the largest island of Arquous, one of the Holy Lakes of Hurmu. Most famous for its villages of intact Menelmacari architecture and the Library of Eressea, a private library devoted to religious literature from across the world.
Name
Its name is taken from High Menelmacari, given to the island in the late 1400s by the Menelmacari overlords. They had noticed similarities between the island (its original name being Ark in Hurmumol) and the Menelmacari island of Tol Eressëa ("lonely island"), they named the island after the Menelmacari island and settled it. It became the main site for the Elfinshi elite in Hurmu in the late 1470s and early 1480s.
Eressea has given name to the town of Eressea Rannik and the Lakkvian name of Lake Arquous – Eressea järv ("lake of Eressea").
