Dependencies' Electoral District

The Dependencies' Electoral District was the multi-member parliamentary constituency of the Kingdom of the Union of Caputia that returned the members for the kingdom's two Crown dependencies, Elizabeth Isle and Santa Melusina, to the Parliament of Caputia. Both territories had come to Caputia from Hamland, which received them from Passio-Corum under the Treaty of Bel-Air. As possessions of the Crown they formed no part of Caputia itself, and they were not counted among the states when Parliament apportioned its seats following a census of population. The states drew single-member districts to conform with their apportionment and the Royal District of Zalae chose members of its own; the two dependencies were combined into this one district.

The Edict of Pallisican Expulsion and Repudiation of 1658 AN had put all Bassarid nationals and practitioners of the Stripping Path out of Caputia and its possessions before either contest. The district was contested at both of the kingdom's general elections, in 1660 AN alongside the ten states then constituted and in 1665 AN alongside eleven, in each case for a chamber of 422 seats. It was fought on both occasions by the kingdom's four registered parties, the National Salvation Party, the National Unity Party, the Liberal League and Hatnuah, and by independent candidates. At the census of 1663 AN Elizabeth Isle returned 19,883 inhabitants against Santa Melusina's 2,008,218, so that all but about one percent of the district's people lived on Santa Melusina. The district ended with the kingdom in the late 1660s AN.
