On 4 Puwha Amerhali (VIII) 1699 skirmishes along the line of control between Palë City and West Fatehpur Sikri and Fatehpur Sikri descended into all-out urban warfare. The Army, fearing being cut off, attacked across the entire frontline. While the Army initially pushed deep into Sëwulat the Amarran rebels, enjoying support from a sizeable share of the local population, managed to push north and take eastern Menura, western Alto Siccre and all of Esa Sikri. By 12.IX.1699 however the government had retaken much of Menura, Alto Siccre and parts of Esa Sikri, on 23.IX.1699 the rebels broke through the Army defences between Palë City and Menura. The defending units were mostly composed of mustered and conscript infantry, while the rebels had armoured vehicles and experienced defected officers. The breakthrough increased the pressure on Menura Garrison, being defended by four Army brigades, with five brigade equivalent units on the rebel side. After three weeks of intense fighting, the Menura Garrison finally fell when the executive officer of the Army forces Perikatir Tanilo Liyon turned out to have been a partisan all along, after having put two bullets into the back of the head of the commanding officer. As acting commander he issued orders for the Army brigades to surrender, giving effective control of the garrison and its military hardware to the PDF. With the surrender of the garrison as well as the Army units trapped in Palë City, the battle came to an effective end on 3.XI.1699 with a rebel victory. The remaining Army forces retreated to defendable positions, while the rebels took control of the entire Fatehpur Sikri metro area.
