Balduvien (officially the Kingdom of Balduvien; Arminian: Balduvye) is a former Crandish and Arminian duchy, now a kingdom within the Anglo-Saksen Commonwealth.
History
The Baldic tribes originated in western Lyrica along with the neighboring Jutts and Hurmudan. A nomadic tribe they took their name from the their primary camp, located on a barren hill known as "Balt Dun", literally "bald hill". Unlike many of the other surrounding tribes, the Balds were pastoral nomads that rarely warred with other tribes. Nonetheless, they were forced into numerous conflicts with other warlike tribes, eventually being pushed onto mainland Apollonia. At first they settled on the northern shores of Lake Glacei, only to be pushed out again even further north, eventually ending up on the very furthest western fringe of Cranda. Forced to adapt to a colder climate they began to herd reindeer as both beasts of burden and food. They proved to be especially adept at this skill and soon took up the reindeer as their national symbol. To this day reindeer herding remains an important custom of tradition.
