Agriculture in Nouvelle Alexandrie
Agriculture in Nouvelle Alexandrie is a significant component of the nation's economy. The primary sector activities accounting for agriculture, husbandry, fishing, and forestry account for over 5.5% of GDP, of which about 2.5% is taken up by the agrofood industry. The sector is characterzied by a diverse range of climates and traditions, shaped by the country's continential territories on Keltia, Eura, and Lyrica, and its extensive network of Islands.
Geographic distribution
The bulk of agricultural activity takes place on the Keltian mainland, particularly within the Wechua Region, which posesses multiple highland valleys and temperate plateaus, cementing its place as the nation's principal breadbasket. The islands regions, by contrast, support limited agriculture but play a crucial role in coastal and deep-sea fishing.
The climates experienced by the regions of Nouvelle Alexandrie are drastically diverse: Wechua, Santander, and Boriquén experience a dry summer climate (semiarid), while regions like New Caputia, Valencia, Lyrica, and Eastern Alduria experience an oceanic climate. The island have diverse climates as well: while Islas de la Libertad and New Luthoria experience a tropical climate; Isles of Caputia has an oceanic climate.

Crops
In terms of agricultural output, Nouvelle Alexandrie ranks among the top 5 in Micras. On Keltia, it has the largest proportion of land devoted to agricultural purposes. About 46% of all available unbuilt land is dedicated to agricultural production.
About 30% of all agricultural land is dedicated to the production of cereal grains: 40% of all farms are dedicated to Wheat, 40% to rice, and 20% to other grains (60% corn, 15% rye, 10% barley, 10% oats, 5% millet).
Another 15% of all farms are dedicated to orchards, including greenhouses. Of these, more than 50% are dedicated to citrus fruits (50% oranges, 20% mandarins, 15% grapefruits, 10% lemons, 5% limes); with a further 20% dedicated to apples; 10% for pears; and 20% other fruits (30% bananas, 20% peaches, 20% abricots, 15% plums, 10% cherries, 5% figs). Almost all bananas and figs are produced on the island regions, with over 70% of all bananas coming from New Luthoria. Another important cash crop for the nation is the production of Almonds, especially in Alduria.
10% of all farms are dedicated to vegetables. Of these, over 50% are dedicated to potatoes; 20% to tomatoes; 10% to peppers; and 20% to other vegetables (50% onions, 20% green beans, 20% cabbages, 10% nuts). The largest producer of tomatoes in Nouvelle Alexandrie is the island region of Isles of Caputia, providing over 40% of the national production.
Nouvelle Alexandrie is a major producer of olives and olive oil, with over 4% of all farms dedicated to it. The majority of these farms are found in Santander and Boriquén.
While not a major producer, vineyards make up about 2% of all farms, with the majority found in Valencia, New Caputia, and Boriquén.
10% of all farms are dedicated to textiles, with the majority found in Alduria and South Lyrica. Of these, almost 60% are dedicated to cotton; 20% to flax, a major export for South Lyrica; 15% to jute, centred in Wechua; and 5% to hemp.
Sugar beets are also a major industrial crop for Nouvelle Alexandrie, with over 6% of farms dedicated to it. Of these, almost 50% are found in North Lyrica.
Small quantities of tobacco are also cultivated, with about 2% of all farms dedicated to it. More than 80% of the domestic production of tobacco comes from Islas de la Libertad.
The flower industry is also an important economic export for Nouvelle Alexandrie, with about 3% of all farms dedicated to floriculture. Many of these are centred in Alduria and North Lyrica.
Livestock
About 35% of all agricultural production is dedicated to livestock feed. Livestock farming occupies over 25% of all available unbuilt land.
More than 30% of all livestock farms are dedicated to cattle, divided into 60% meat production and 40% dairy production. While meat production is concentrated in Lyrica and New Caputia, dairy production is mostly existent in Santander. Beef and veal remain the most important meat products in Nouvelle Alexandrie.
Trailing this is the farming of poultry, which accounts for about 25% of livestock farms. Of these, 85% are chicken; 10% are turkeys; and 5% are other (65% pheasants, 20% geese, 15% ducks). These farms are mostly centred around the corn-growing areas of Wechua.
Pork is also a major meat product in Nouvelle Alexandrie, with over 20% of all livestock farms dedicated to it. More than half of all pig farms are concentrated in Wechua Nation and Boriquén.
Sheep farming occupies around 15% of all livestock farms. The majority of these are located in Valencia and Santander. Both wool, lamb and mutton are important exports for Nouvelle Alexandrie.
Around 10% of livestock farms are dedicated to other animals: 65% to goats; 25% to llamas; 10% to horses; and 5% to donkeys. While goat husbandry is mostly used for meat, dairy, and wool; llamas, horses, and donkeys are kept as draft and pack animals. Another major use of llama husbandry is wool; while horse breeding is regarded as a major export.
Forestry
The majority of the natural forests of Nouvelle Alexandrie are located in Lyrica and Isles of Caputia. About 26% of all forests are used for forestry industry, the majority of which are eucalyptus, poplars, and conifers. While lumber industry lags behind most major countries, Nouvelle Alexandrie is well-known for its production of cork, turpentine, and resins. Linoleum and triplex are also some of the major exports of the foresting industry.
Fishing
Nouvelle Alexandrie is one of the world's leading fishing producers, with the world's sixth largest fishing fleet. Fish remains a staple food for many Alexandriens, especially on the islands. The main products from the fishing industry are sardines, cod, mackerel, tuna, mussels, and cephalopods. Crustacean fishing is a major economic export for South Lyrica.
Fishing is particularly important in the economy of Islas de la Libertad and Isles of Caputia. More than 40% of all fishing production is provided by the former, which also employs over 25% of fishers nationally. Since 1700 AN, sustainable fishing and fish farming has increasingly become the modern methods of fishing in Nouvelle Alexandrie, drastically reducing overfishing and environmental damage.
