1685–1687 Two Martyrs constitutional convention

The 1685 Two Martyrs constitutional convention began its meeting at the Palace of Whales in Asara Eliana on 18.VII.1685.

The work of the constitutional convention was complicated by the abdication of the West Amokolian throne by Arkadius IV to Prince Kir, causing Kir to be absent for many meetings, thus delaying the convention.

One proposal for the name of the new demesne was "Principality of Whales" by whaler Karl Battenberg and his sons Wilhelm and Heinrich. A proposal for a flag was also included in the proposal. Here, the green represents the Kujirashijin (Sangunese; taken from the flag of Greater Sangun, the pink represents the Walstädters (Saxons, taken from the flag of Walstadt), and the white colour the peace between them.

In 1686, there were calls for avoiding a double-barrelled name of the new demesne in Istvanistani (as the Convention had recommended), so the Convention was delayed while studying what the name could be appropriately in the three official languages of the demesne. Accordingly, the Convention was continued on into the year 1687.

The Convention charged its chair and vice chair, Lord Kigazeki and Lady Kin'uyama, to draft a draft constitution based on the findings of the convention. They produced their draft constitution on 3.VIII.1687.

  • Lords and rank? – Hal: All lords to be assessed as to their rank, degree of immediacy, type of lordship (civil/military/religious), and other privileges, basically turning us into an antarctic HRE.
    • Ric: but how....? like what levels, how many... it's not like we have many lords to begin with, unless we want to fill the empty lordships with npc lords of lower rank
    • Hal: Many. More than that. More even than that. And of course we'd have NPC lords.
      • I'm confused as for the system, if you can work one out, please present it, otherwise the easiest is to just have provincial overlords, with a nice title, and all other lords of title being equal to one another – and members of the lords' families being "landless" lords/ladies?
• A House of Nobles consisting of all lords, with an upper chamber for the provincial lords, – both headed by the prince
  • Do we want a democratic chamber too? Hal: Only if the House of Nobles retains primacy. So decided, democratic chamber, but with lords having supremacy.
• Prince Kir to be Prince of Kujirashi-Walstadt
• Provinces of Asara Eliana (Saxon: Eliä-Asaraland; Sangunese: 恵理愛更国, Eriaisarakoku) to remain under its established name.
• Island of former Birgeshir to be named Otaku (お宅, O-Taku; "the honourable home", allusion to the former capital Otaq) and be reserved for safir immigration? 新宅島　Niitakushima, "new home island"? Hal: 新宅島 Shintakushima, with capital named O-Taku.. So decided.
• The Two Martyrs Elijah and Asara to remain revered Saints – with due devotion and respect.
• That the Lordship of Elfinschenheide be despoiled, its buildings burnt, its fields sowed with salt, any Vanakarls found there put to the sword, the lands be divided amongst neighbouring lordships and its absentee lord, Hallbjörn Haraldsson, be attainted.
  • The Lord of Szandoh to cover the cost of the raid and to raise the forces necessary to carry it out.
  • Hal: Counterproposal: That the Lordship of Elfinschenheide be disestablished, its lands and private property divided amongst neighboring lordships, its lord attainted, and any Vanakarlar/-kvinnur to be given the choice of deprogramming or deportation to the Land Without Kings.

• Jihad to be waged against Karl Battenberg and his lineage down to the tenth generation of their descendants for the total eradication of all proponents of that flag.
