The Froyalan Tribunal is a special court of justice in West Amokolia, tasked at investigating, prosecuting, and executing justice of all crimes related to the Froyalanish genocide. Established in 1674 AN on the initiative of the Frankish emperor, Arkadius IV of Batavia. After Arkadius's abdication of Batavia and Amokolia in 1685, Arkadius caused this court to be moved to the Arbor Isles (see Froyalan Tribunal (Frankish exiles continuity) for more information). In West Amokolian law, however, the court continues to legally exist, though in practice, it is dormant. The Froyalan Tribunal started with the legal proceedings on 16.VIII.1680 AN. Despite its scope, the Court only delivered judgments on three cases: the legal nature of Elwynn (the Court ruled the government in Elwynn to be illegal, usupring the sovereignty of the deposed King Noah), the annulment of the annulment of the Marriage of Kaiseress Noor and King Noah of Elwynn, and ruling that Vilhjálm Daniel Gudrödar, having been alleged by Shirerithian authorities to have lived in near-slavery conditions in Shireroth following the Auspicious Occasion and released to Francia under the Treaty of Mittlere Stadt, was in fact never subjected to this awful treatment, rather, an actor suffered for his sins. The Court consequently received criticisms by human-rights defenders across West Amokolia for not actually dealing with crimes against humanity. Instead, critics alleged, the Froyalan Tribunal was a propaganda department of the exiled Elwynnese monarchy.
Before the Sacking of Brandenburg, the Froyalan Tribunal had a building in Brandenburg, that was guarded by the "Fleur de Lys-Longships Guard".
Structure
The Froyalan Tribunal is an independent judicial body that is independent of the judiciary in West Amokolia. The jurisdiction of the tribunal is focused on the Froyalanish genocide. In 1685, the Tribunal was defunded, and given the task of closing down and handing over all its archives to the National Archives of the Kingdom of Amokolia. It is expected that this court will cease to legally exist sometime in 1686 or 1687.
After its main procecutor Eva von Babenberch and the judges of the Tribunal escaped to the Arbor Isles, the West Amokolian government appointed new judges to the Court. On its first day of sitting, it vacated all previous decisions with the reasoning that justice had been compromised. With the lack of funding for the Court, it is unlikely that the cases will be taken up to new review.
Criticism
The majority of Benacian powers disputed the suggestion that the death of fifty-eight million Froyalaners during the liberation and decolonisation struggle began by the Auspicious Occasion represented a crime, indeed in several of those countries the accomplishment was celebrated as a high feast day. Moreover, for critics of the Froyalan Tribunal, even among those who accept the notion that eradicating an entire population might be considered an untoward act, the Prosecutor's fixation upon remedying historical slights against the Storish House of Ettlingar-Freyu with a view to affirming a claim to the abolished Throne of Elwynn seems an instance of questionable prioritisation that called the court's impartially wholly into question.
As of 1681, no other power other than Frankia and Stormark have acknowledged the authority of the Tribunal, rendering its verdicts highly controversial. Due to the highly skewed nature of the constitution of the court, the verdicts were widely anticipated to be critical of the Auspicious occasion and in support of the Vanic government of Elwynn.
