Format

Due to expansion and a vote of Super League clubs, the FRRL implemented a number of changes to the 2019 season. As more teams have joined the top flight, to avoid fixture congestion and for the league to align with other major leagues such as the RLM Super 12, it was announced that teams would play each other once at either home and away, and then five selected teams twice. Resulting in 23 rounds excluding the Florian Super Round. Relegation was expanded from one team to three teams and the three teams then replaced by the winner and runner-up of Florian Super League 2 plus the Million Dollar Game winner.

Teams

Four new clubs will play in the league for the first time. Oldhaven Wolfpack, Birmingham Titans and the Southern Storm who won league licenses in 2017 will start play. Northcliff Broncos after being thrown out of the league before debuting in 2018 were promoted back into the league. Two clubs left the league however with KR Viten Sharks transferred to the Micras Balkan Super League and Northcliff Eagles who were relegated. In February 2019, in controversial move, Northcliff Vikings rebranded to become Northcliff Roosters.

Pre-season

The 2018 pre-season will feature the FMRL World Club Championships with 2018 Super League Champions, Northsilver Panthers entering the group stage.In addition, Stonehall Rhinos, Meadowedge Warriors and Northcliff Vikings will enter the qualifying stage.

Regular Season

Teams will play 24 regular season games with the league being paused after round 12 to accommodate the Florian Super Round (formerly Florian Magic Weekend).
