Christian Alejandro Cotto Maldonado (born 27.IX.1691 AN) is a New Alexandrian businessman and diplomat serving as Ambassador of Nouvelle Alexandrie to the Dark Berry Islands since 1744 AN. Before entering diplomatic service, Cotto founded Cotto Tropical Beverages, a company based in Hato Rey, Boriquén, that became the largest importer of dark berries and Dark Berry Ale into Nouvelle Alexandrie.
Cotto built his business from a family fruit stand, dropping out of university in his third year to pursue an import deal with a Dark Berrian merchant. He capitalized on the Dark Berry Islands' post-civil war economic recovery under Sofia Fasthey's Council of Women, securing exclusive distribution rights for Dark Berry Ale across Boriquén and the Southern Aldurian Riviera. His company eventually employed over 400 workers and held contracts with 23 Dark Berrian producers. A major Federal Humanist Party donor since 1735 AN, Cotto bundled over NAX€2.1 million for the 1744 general election. His appointment drew criticism from the Democratic Socialist Party, which called it a "pay-to-play arrangement," though supporters noted his decades of trade relationships made him well-suited to represent the Federation in Mountainview Bay. He transferred operational control of Cotto Tropical Beverages to his eldest son upon assuming the ambassadorship.
