Signe (Elw: Сигнэ, Signy) is a former Norse town in western Mercury, located on the western bank of the northern inlet of the Strait of Haifa. Along with Hagbard, it constitutes the Norse Gate.
Population in 1679 was 80,725 inhabitants. Norse is the sole official language here, but with the UDF having a base here, Elw and Army Crandish are widely spoken and used in the area. In 1738, following the collapse of the state of the Normark, Mercury occupied and annexed the town.
Signe and Hagbard are named after the story of Hagbard and Signe in Norse mythology.
