The Behaurnais-class amphibious assault ship is a ship class of landing helicopter assault (LHA) type amphibious assault ships designed and constructed by the Pontecorvo Firm, a leading New Alexandrian shipbuilding company and defense contractor. This class of ship is specifically tailored to meet modern demands of rapid global deployment, amphibious assault, and humanitarian assistance operations. The first of these warships was commissioned by the Federal Navy of Nouvelle Alexandrie in 1687 AN; as many as two will be built - the first one being the HMS Behaurnais, the second being the HMS San Pablo.
Ships of the Behaurnais class can be used as a small aircraft carrier with a squadron of jet fighters plus several multipurpose helicopters, such as the Javelin H-2 Siren. They can carry about 20 to 25 Javelin H-2 Siren, Javelin F-21 Heavenscream, or a mixture of the two.
Operational Role
The primary mission of the Behaurnais-class is to provide a mobile, flexible, and scalable platform for the projection of power ashore. Its well deck supports amphibious operations, including the launch and recovery of landing craft and amphibious vehicles. The class is also equipped with advanced radar and sensor suites, enhancing its capability to operate in contested environments.
Service History
Entering service in 1687 AN, the Behaurnais-class ships have quickly become a cornerstone of Nouvelle Alexandrie and Constancia's naval capabilities, demonstrating their operational effectiveness in exercises and real-world deployments such as Operation Paramount and the Wars of the Dispossessed. Their design reflects a shift towards multi-role platforms capable of responding to a wide range of military and humanitarian missions.
