Imperial Society of Hurmu
The Imperial Society of Hurmu is a fringe group and aspiring political party in Hurmu dedicated to an expansionist Hurmu, but a Hurmu that caters for its Norse history and identity. It is seen associated with right-wing people, associated with anti-Vanic and anti-Storish ideologies, and is seen as a counter to the so-called nativist ideologies in Hurmu ("Hurmu for Hurmudans", "Nativist List"). It is also seen to exist in opposition to the more "civic nationalist" movements in Hurmu, in which Hurmu is held as a multicultural multilingual utopia for all peoples of the world. Rather, the Imperial Society wants to replace all languages with a standard Norse language in public settings, and find a way for Hurmudans to exist in an orderly fashion, with one identity, one mindset and one goal (to serve the nation). The Imperial Society has been accused of being humanist in its outlook and intent.
Irredentism
Under this "Empire of the Holy Lakes", there are two schools of thought of what Hurmu ought to encompass.
The first one is the "Storish" school, in which Hurmu retakes all of Normark and former Stormark as a democratic and peace-loving and stable and free government for the Norse-speaking peoples of the world.
In the second school of thought – that which Stormark should not be followed as making a Hurmu empire covering Stormark may just risk bringing back the Vanic hegemony and suppression once again, Hurmu should focus on gaining territories that have a cultural or historical connection to Hurmu:
- Humlebæk Island (now held by the Imperial Federation)
- Cape Farewell, Illumination, and Wintergleam (Norse-speaking people from Hurmu migrated there, as well as the Hurmu–Elwynnese union; now held by the Benacian Union)
- Normark (since the union with the Dominion; only Norse-speaking territory not having suffered the fate of Vanicism; independent country)
- Losalvaroyar (part of Hurmu for a few decades; now held by the Imperial Federation)
- Arvidsudde (a pacifist Norse-speaking Hurmu-speaking commune in Barbary, now held by Akhidia)
- Norrland, Jorvik, Humlant, Norsmandy – as part of traditional Hurmu migrations
- Most of Lyrica (otherwise held by Nouvelle Alexandrie)
- Whales, once held as a fief by the Prince of Hurmu, although not Norse-speaking
- Nidaros, once held as a fief by the Prince of Hurmu, Norse-speaking
- Zanzibar, the coastline most immediate north-east of the Holy Lakes, once fishing and banking grounds for Hurmu fishermen, now held by the Hexarchy
Constitution
Moreover, the Imperial Society wishes for a Hurmu led by a Prince of Hurmu once more, under which an Order of the Holy Lakes serves him. The Order would not necessarily be hereditary, but each prominent member of the order (perhaps titled Senator or Commander) would govern a parcel of the Empire under the remit of the Prince. That way, the Order's members would each have a personal mandate and obligation to fulfil and uphold the destiny of an empire of Hurmu. Democratic institutions should continue to exist in as much as they do not run counter to the overall goal of the Imperial Society – that of Hurmu's expansion and peace. Peace should be the overall religion of Hurmu, and all things being repugnant to peace must be eradicated.
