The Lákarpa S.A.R. is a special region in Palesmenia. It was created as a reservation for Lákarpa who lived near the border after the so called "Great Suffering" by them. The region is made up of several small towns and rural villages, with Palesmenian settlement being restricted.

History

After The Great Suffering, many Lákarpa migrated to seek greener and safer pastures in an event known as "The Lákarpa Schism". The group who migrated north were soon given the name "Blue Lákarpa". They soon reached the watershed of the Taylor Bay and set up many small communities. The settlement of Måta was set up as a small farming community near the Öuér River. Those who continued north settled on the beaches of the bay, setting up the towns of Jügenitsa, Vitkefatsä, and Nä Selinsä. However, raids from other native groups such as the Taegars and Kpoils became a thorn in the settlers side. In a sudden change of heart, the settlers petitioned the Palesmenian government for annexation. Fearing direct annexation into one of the neighboring Palesmenian provinces, a series of talks were held between native leader Lütz Bakánö and the Palesmenian government, it was agreed that the area would become a Special Autonomous Region of Palesmenia under his leadership.

Politics

The region didn't participate in the 2019 elections, although it is planned that they will participate in the 2020 elections. The region also has it's own council, the Reservation Council (Lákarpa: Öspúnå Ríömuk Serä). The council is in charge of civil service duties for the region.
