The Vegnese Armed Forces (Vegnian: Forze armate vegnesi) encompass the Vegnese Army, the Vegnese Navy and the Vegnese Air Force. A fourth branch of the armed forces of Vegno, known as the Gendarmi, take on the role as the nation's military police. The national defence policy aims to guarantee the preservation of the independence and sovereignty of the state, the integrity of its land area, territorial waters, airspace and its constitutional order. The President of Vegno heads the armed forces as Chief of the Armed Forces.
The Vegnese Armed Forces contribute to, and in turn are supported by, the Apollonian and Keltian Continental Theatre Commands of the Raspur Pact, with the support provided by the Confederate States Armed Forces of Floria being especially notable.
Organization
The office of the Chief of Defence is organised as follows:

Structure
Esercito Vegnese (Vegnese Army)
Main article: Vegnese Army
The Vegnese Army is the main arm of the defence forces. It is responsible to the Government of Vegno, along with the other components of the Armed Forces.
It has tanks, armored cars, infantry fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery, and has only one specialty that encompasses the air forces: Army Aviation. Personnel training is entrusted to the Army Training, Specialization and Doctrine Command, which makes use of the Training Command and Application School, which includes the Military Academy, Volunteer Training Regiments and Army Foreign Language School. The special forces units of the Army depend on the Army Special Forces Command.
The Vegnese Navy is responsible for all naval operations and protecting of the territorial waters of Vegno. The main functions of the naval force are the preparation and organisation of the defence of the territorial waters and coastal line, ensuring the maritime security, communications and sea traffic in the territorial waters.
Aeronautica Militare (Vegnese Air Force)
The Vegnese Air Force is the main arm of the Vegnese aviation forces.
Gendarmi
The Gendarmeria Nazionale, also known as Corpo di Gendarmeria per la Sicurezza Nazionale (Gendarmerie Corps for National Security), is the gendarmerie and military police of Vegno. They primarily carry out domestic policing duties. As the fourth branch of the Armed Forces, they come under the authority of the Ministry of Defence; for activities related to inland public order and security, they functionally depend on the Ministry of the Interior. Because of its military status, the Gendarmeria also fulfills a range of military and defence missions, including having a cybercrime division.
