Developed from Project-1651, the design of a gravimetric pinnace intended to serve as a long range tender for Shireroth's fleet of gravrigs such as the Medusa and the Imperial Yacht. The Nereid serves as a dedicated long-range patrol counter part to the gravimetric utility vehicle known as the Jackalope.

Ultimately proven to be vulnerable to the modern generations of air superiority fighters and ground based missile defences, the Nereid was ultimately retired after the Second Elwynnese Civil War to allow for the recovery of components that would permit the Jackalope transport fleet of the Benacian Union to remain in service.

By 1717 AN the sole uses of the type would be the Nordhær, to their sorrow as it was the only aircraft type capable of launching strike sorties in their entire inventory.

Design features

  • Gravimetric drive to provide lift
  • paired chemical ion vectral jet drives on gimbals to provide thrust and controlled descent systems redundancy
  • cockpit seating for pilot and navigator / weapons system operator
  • paired external hard-points for anti-air missiles, anti-ship missiles, air to ground missiles, or deployable autonomous sensors
  • aft-cabin station seating four, three mid-cabin stations plus one VERITAS terminal seating one each, configured for real-time sensor monitoring and advanced weapons control, with cabin stations reconfigurable according to mission requirements
  • rear compartment housing for defensive countermeasures suite. Installation (1672) necessitated removal of crew rest cabin and cargo racks.
