The 1705 Benacian intervention in Cimmeria and Raikoth was initiated by the Benacian Union at midnight on 36.XV.1704 AN to coincide with dawn on 01.I.1705 AN, in an attempt to take by surprise and overwhelm the nativist and democratic forces which participated in the governance of Cimmeria and Raikoth, whilst they were distracted with internal feuding directed against the partisans of the Verionist Union as a consequence of the contested results of the 1704 Free Elwynn elections.
