The Franklin Islands national football team is the football team which currently represents the Mercurian autonomous territory of the Franklin Islands, and previously represented the independent nation of the same name. It is a member of the WMFA.
The team has existed twice in the FMF's history; firstly between 2014 and late 2016 as an independent nation, and secondly since early 2019 as an autonomous territory of Mercury.
History
The team was founded in 2014 after the Franklin Islands' Micrasian claim was successful. Later in the year, the team entered the inaugural Emerging Nations Cup, where they heavily lost both of their matches and finished fourth.
In their first qualifiers the following year, the team were comfortably beaten in all of their matches as they finished bottom of their four-team group having scored no goals and conceded 49. Later in the year, the team competed in the second Emerging Nations Cup, where they again finished fourth following two defeats.
