The Treaty of Lorsdam, signed in the town of Lorsdam near Shirekeep on ?.?.174?, was a historical peace agreement between the Imperial Republic of Shireroth and the Benacian Union. This treaty marked the conclusion of a series of military and political developments, including Shirerithian successes during their 1739 island-hopping campaigns and the gains achieved in Operation Left Knock, Right Knock in 1740 AN. Concurrently, widespread internal unrest and riots within Elluenuueq against the state regime weakened the Benacian Union’s hold over the region. However, Shireroth’s inability to dislodge the Benacians from Guttuli, which they had conquered earlier in the war, and the prospect of a military campaign into territories like Ransenar and the Sovereign Confederation where people would defend their homes to the death, ultimately necessitated negotiations.

The Treaty of Lorsdam formalized the cessation of hostilities and established newly defined borders, which included a strategic exchange of territories between the two great powers, aiming to promote stability and lasting (uneasy) peace in the region.

Treaty of Lorsdam

Preamble This treaty, known as the Treaty of Lorsdam, is established to proclaim lasting peace between the Imperial Republic of Shireroth and the Benacian Union and end the gruesome conflict that has brought death to so many Shirerithians and Benacians. Both parties commit to fostering mutual respect, resolving territorial disputes amicably, and enhancing regional stability. This treaty represents a formal peace agreement and is not an armistice. Article I: Peace Proclamation Both parties declare a state of peace, renouncing hostilities and pledging to avoid conflict in all forms. This treaty supersedes any prior agreements or hostilities and establishes a framework for peaceful coexistence. Article II: Land Trade Agreements The region of Guttuli shall be ceded by the Imperial Republic of Shireroth to the Benacian Union. The region of Elluenuueq shall be ceded by the Benacian Union to the Imperial Republic of Shireroth. The territory of Sagittarius shall be ceded by the Imperial Republic of Shireroth to the Benacian Union. The island territory of Sabatini shall be ceded by the Benacian Union to the Imperial Republic of Shireroth. The exchange of territories shall be completed within 30 days of the treaty’s ratification. Both parties agree to ensure an orderly transition of administrative control and governance. Article III: Elwynn River Agreement Both nations agree to shared access and, in designated areas, shared ownership over the Elwynn River. The Elwynn River Committee shall be established to oversee and manage these arrangements. The Committee will comprise equal representation from both nations and a neutral third party, consisting of a representative of Hurmu. The Elwynn River Committee will coordinate issues such as water resource management, navigation rights, and environmental conservation to prevent conflicts. Decisions by the Committee shall require consensus and be binding on both nations. Article IV: Title Recognition Noble titles referring to Benacian territories, towns,... currently recognized within Shireroth shall remain valid as symbolic titles without any claim to the actual territory. The title of Queen/King of Ransenar shall not be claimed by the Golden Mango Throne. Article V: Territorial Sovereignty Both parties acknowledge and respect each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Neither party shall lay territorial claims to lands under the sovereignty of the other party beyond the agreements outlined in this treaty. Article VI: Non-Aggression and Cooperation Both parties commit to a non-aggression pact, refraining from any form of hostile action, including military, economic, or cyber aggression. Diplomatic channels shall remain open at all times to facilitate communication and prevent misunderstandings. Economic cooperation and cultural exchange programs will be encouraged, but not enforced, to strengthen bilateral relations. Article VII: Dispute Resolution Any disputes arising from this treaty or its implementation shall be referred to the Elwynn River Committee or an arbitration panel comprising neutral parties. If arbitration fails, disputes may be referred to an international judicial body mutually agreed upon by both nations. Article VIII: Nuclear Disarmament Commitment Both parties commit to joining the Dorado Convention on nuclear disarmament, affirming their dedication to global peace and the elimination of nuclear weapons. Both parties agree to cooperate in international initiatives related to nuclear disarmament and to work collaboratively to promote the Convention’s objectives on a global scale. Article IX: Final Provisions This treaty shall enter into force upon ratification by the respective governing bodies of both parties. Both parties shall publicly affirm their commitment to the treaty and its principles. Amendments to this treaty may only be made with the mutual consent of both parties and must be documented and signed by authorized representatives.
