The Conservative Monarchist Party (Batavian: Conservatieve Monarchistische Partij) is the liberal-conservative party in Batavia. It is currently the largest party in the Lagerhuis. The current party leader is Benjamin Cambernon.
History
1527 – 1570
The current Conservative Monarchist Party claims to be a continuation of the historic Conservative Monarchist Party, which came into being on 12 Grasmaand 1527 AN as a merger between the Christian Social Union (Batavian: Christelijke Sociale Unie) and the Monarchist Conservative Party (Batavian: Monarchistische Conservatieve Partij). The party was originally called the Christian Monarchist Party (Batavian: Christelijke Monarchistische Partij), but that changed to the current name on 5 Herfstmaand 1544 AN.
In 1570 AN what was left of the once large party was transformed into the Batavian Front Party (Batavian: Bataafsche Frontpartij). This is seen by historians as the end of the Conservative Monarchist Party.
1666 – now
The party was re-established by Arkadius Frederik Gustavus des Vinandy on 21 Slachtmaand 1666 AN. With his coronation as king of Batavia, he left the party. Benjamin Cambernon is elected party leader on 12 Grasmaand 1671 AN.
