Ancient Vulcuria was mostly destroyed in a flood, after which the city was abandoned. The city is home to refugees from Zandarijn, who fled their former homeland after the Sack of Hamstadt and who are mostly unrelated to the former people inhabiting the city. Vulcuria is a signatory to the Union of Oudorp.

During the Lanzerwaldian-Whaler War, Vulcuria was home to a camp for prisoners-of-war.
