The Gerenian parliamentary election of 2014 was held on 3 August 2014 to elect members of the Parliament of Gerenia.
Background
After the anarchy of late 2013, the Parliament was suspended, and re-opened on 16 January 2014 with 83 of its 124 members. Later, it was decided that a by-election had to be held to fill the vacated seats. Instead, the Parliament determined that the election would serve not only to elect members to replace the absent ones, but to elect members for all the seats. The remaining members had to "be confirmed" in their positions through the popular vote, with them being expelled from Parliament if their parties lost in their respective Electoral Zones.
The acts concerning elections were amended so, since 2014, presidential and local elections are held in odd-numbered years, while parliamentary elections are held in even-numbered years.
Parties
The election was contested for a third time by the Independent Party, the Socialist Party, the Popular Party, the Nationalist Party and the Hope Party. The Communist Party of Maremedres was forbidden to take part in the election due to its activities during the anarchy (mainly supporting the independence of Maremedres).
The parties that competed in an election for the first time were the Reformist Party, led by Arien Läters, the Liberators' Party, and the Pankrat People's Party, which represents the interests of the Pankrat tribe.
