The Elian Militia, raised as a demesnal self-defence force during the War of Lost Brothers, operates as a law enforcement service and paramilitary auxiliary organisation in the Elwynnese autonomous republic of Normark. Its official armaments are limited by the Constitution of Elwynn. For civil affairs it reports to the Ministry of Justice in Normark whilst maintaining defence training and operational liaison links with Keltia Command of the Raspur Pact, with which it would be expected to cooperate in wartime.
The Elian Militia retained its Natopian and Bovic organisational culture, placing it increasingly at odds with the Norse nationalism evidenced in the Einhornist revival of the late 1680s. In spite of being on the wrong side of the 1688 Normark political crisis, the Elian Militia's decision to remain loyal during the Second Elwynnese Civil War was rewarded on 12.II.1693 AN with the transferal of policing powers formerly exercised by the Corps of the Gentlemen-at-Cudgels to the force.
