The Whales Resettlement Fund is a compensation and assistance program administered by the Imperial Treasury of Natopia, established in 1743 AN by the government of to support citizens displaced by the Natopian Withdrawal from Whales. The fund covers transportation costs, temporary housing, business relocation expenses, and property compensation claims for former residents of the Principality of Whales.
Initial appropriations totaled 4.5 billion natopo, drawn from general revenues. The fund operated adequately during the evacuation's early phases but faced mounting pressure as claims accumulated faster than processing capacity allowed. By 1752 AN, the fund faces a significant shortfall, with outstanding claims exceeding remaining resources by an estimated 923 million natopo.
The funding gap has become a political liability for the Natopian government, particularly under the Chancellor Marco Lungo, III. Whales Natopian advocacy groups, particularly the Whales Nationals' Association, have demanded full compensation for outstanding claims, while fiscal conservatives in the Frenzy resist additional appropriations. Chancellor Marco Lungo, III acknowledged the issue during his confirmation process, pledging review without committing to specific remedies.
