The Awake-class diesel submarine is a capable class of submarines designed and built by Port Niyi Shipyards in Sanama. In 1675 Sanama purchased two Asleep-class nuclear submarines from Talenore and transferred them to the shipyards, with the view of converting them to the Awake-class. Subsequently the revolutionary government initiated a rapid naval construction programme financed in large part on credit lines obtained from Vulture States equally eager to build up their own submarine arms. In the navies of the Raspur Pact the Awake-class has been categorised as the Type XXV U-Boat and assigned the Allied Production Index number of 202. It had enjoyed a reputation for the longest time of being perhaps the most successful submarine design of its generation to enter into general service.

Updates

Softkill system

In 1681 the Sanaman fleet was upgraded with the new Eclipse MTQ-16 submarine softkill system. The system is designed to protect submarines from incoming torpedoes. It does this by launching salvos of acoustic "deceptors" and "jammers." These are small torpedo-like objects which are launched from tubes under the submarine’s casing. The deceptors imitate the acoustic and movement characteristics of the targeted submarine. This misleads the torpedo into homing in on the wrong target. Meanwhile the jammers emit a broadband high-level noise that drowns out the operating frequencies of most acoustic (sonar) homing torpedoes.
