The Third Ludwiggian-Monovian War was a conflict that was fought out between the Lanzerwald Republic and Monovian settlements in the Lanzerwald that had refused to accept the authority of the Lanzerwald Republic over all the territory that it ruled in accordance with claims lodged with the MCS. In the years leading up to the war, the Confoederatio Aemilia, the predecessor state to the Lanzerwald Republic had been acquiring military aviation capabilities and had mapped the Monovian settlements with the intention of establishing undisputed rule over the Lanzerwald area. The Equites Caeli especially had used 100 Brightworks Mistra AQ-5 Sentinel unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicles to map these settlements. As they acquired power, Prime-minister Hedy von Rossmarkt order the armed forces of the Lanzerwald Republic to use force to bring these settlements under the control of the republic. Teams of the Kriegskorps Ludwigshafen and the Dragonerkorps Ludwigshafen, mostly equipped with Strider CV Combat Vehicles were sent to these settlements to inform them that their independence was over.
