The Taylor Bay War was a Recwar started on the MCS, fought between most Micran nations. It begun in a dispute between New Brittania, Kampong, and Nova England, who all had colonial ambitions to the islands in Taylor Bay, in N.E Micras. With the might of New Brittania's navy, the mobilisation of Kampong's army, and Nova England's allies, the war quickly grew in size, though this was probably due to many nations feeling it would help raise their activity, which was ruined in many Micran nations by the 'summer lull' of summer 2006.

Formally announced on September 27th, 2006, it was hosted by the Micronational Cartography Society and was the first war at the time to be hosted by the aforesaid institution. Due to the mapping crisis in 2006, it was believed by members of the MCS administration that the MRWS, the largest RecWar Society at the time, only adjudicated between nations on the GSO Giess Map. Seeing this as a buildup of international conflict, the Non-Aligned Movement, begun to consider entering the war united, with a common goal which was at the time believed by many to be a peacekeeping one. However, in reality the four NAM leaders, President Chris Mackintosh of Riponia, Speaker Nick 'Foghorn' Leghorn of Antica, Sovereign Emperor Nathan of Natopia, and Zatriarch Maximillideus I of Matbaa met in private in Matbaa to discuss their part in the war. Meanwhile, New Brittania and Kampong agreed to help each other repel foreign intruders from what they considered their territories. The scenario was engineered so as to create an ethnically-rooted conflict over the three islands in Taylor Bay, off the coast of Keltia, which had mixed Kampongese, Nova English, and New Britannian populations.

A Lovely Diversion

Almost immediately, Lovely declared its support for New Britannia and trod a fine line between active military supporter of the Britannian taskforce and officially neutral nation biased towards New Britannia. Toketi and other nations used this as an excuse to invade Lovelian territory on Apollonia and were initially extremely successful. Meanwhile, the NAM had fully committed to an invasion of the Taylor Bay Islands, ostensibly as 'peacekeepers'. Riponian naval squadrons patrolled the seas north of Lovely to prevent Lovelian naval reinforcements to the East whilst Beaugium, a New Britannian ally, deployed ships to aid Lovely and stop the seizure of the islands by Kampong and Nova England. Antican naval infantry deployed to the Taylor Bay Islands to support fellow NAM Matbaic troops whilst the Nova English quickly overran Kampongese defences on two of the three islands, causing a standoff with the Matbaic troops outside Vichika. New Britannia, meanwhile, had issued a general mobilisation and commanders Jeremy Hart and Ardashir deployed air and naval units to Taylor Bay to engage Nova England. Toketi prepared for amphibious landings along the coast of north-western Lovely to advance inland and meet up with other forces advancing from the north by land.

Stalemate

Matbaic forces remained in Vichika guarding the village and its surroundings from Nova English troops who had occupied every other Kampongese settlement, and had permitted Kampong to retain civilian control of the Vichika enclave, which enraged the Nova English. New Britannia, meanwhile, had launched an unprovoked attack on the neutral nation of Taesong, using its strategically important Daegon Airbase to redeploy troops eastwards. New Britannia, like many other nations, was becoming increasingly critical of the NAM presence in the war and sent battleships to observe the stalemate in Vichika. Toketi had by now withdrawn from the conflict, meeting fierce resistance in northern Lovely and by now in a potentially difficult situation. This spelt trouble for the NAM nations who, led by Matbaa, issued a communiqué to Lovely and New Britannia reiterating their official stance as peacekeepers and pledging not to attack Lovelian and New Britannian troops for the entire duration of the war.
