Course of the investigation
An initial complexity for the investigation was determining the jurisdiction within which the moment of death occurred. The fine particulate spray of the deceased had emerged in Walstadt, but the gate through which the deceased had entered was located in Hurmu. At the moment of death, the spatial locations of the Huyenkula and Walstadt gates were in a temporally synchronised and locked state, effectively forming a temporary border between the two realms with the death occurring on the spot that would constitute the borderline. As the "hub" operating the gate network remained sovereign Hurmu territory it was necessary for the investigation to be led by the Hurmu Constabulary, but it would seem necessary, indeed unavoidable, to involve the Natopian authorities.
