Misfit War
The Misfit War was a conflict that occurred early in Micran history, around 1450 AN, between the Imperium of Menelmacar, the Kingdom of Babkha, the United Secular States, and the Kingdom of Beebland. The theatre of conflict was fought mostly on the continent of Corum and island of Hypernostria. To date, it is the only war to have been fought on the Hypernostrian isle.
Outline
In the early 1400s, Menelmacar and Babkha were both rapidly expanding empires. While Babkha was consolidating its control over Eura, Menelmacar had established far-flung colonies across the globe. One such Menelmacari colony was Jaiha on Corum. Nearby and also on Corum, the Korhal Republic had been taken over in a coup by fundamentalists who established the United Secular States, uniting Korhal, Secularia, and Ummah into a new empire. The USS quickly allied itself with another fundamentalist government on Hypernostria, the fledgling Kingdom of Beebland. Both the USS and Beebland very quickly exhibited hostility towards both Menelmacar and Babkha. While there were no open instances of war, the four parties constantly trade barbed and provocations. The increasingly-totalitarian regimes and the atrocities they were performing on their own people continued to outrage both the Menelmacari and Babkhans.
Beebland ultimately became a pawn for the conflict when open aggression broke out between the four parties and a joint Menelmacari-Babkhan force invaded Hypernostria. The tiny kingdom, for all its bluff, could not even hope to muster a defense. While a few allied planes were shot down, the allies quickly overwhelmed the Beebian defenses and took the island. The USS, also significantly weaker, could do nothing but do more cage-rattling. But the invasion sent their government into turmoil, causing the USS to collapse within a year. Both Beebland and the USS ceased to exist and the war came to a quick end.
Modern Beelandians consider this a turning point in their history as it forced the population to completely reject fundamentalism and re-asses their identity. Some of the former military emplacements are preserved to this day, such as the coastal battery in Bee Haven, as memorials to the conflict.
