Mesoun is a former province of Antica and is part of Floria. It is the easternmost part of Floria In the 1690s, the term began to refer to the Green area in Apollonia encircled by Floria, Jingdao, and Çakaristan. It has been described by the Raspur Pact as an area rampant with organised crime, drug cultivation, warlords, and anomie. From 1696 AN, after successful settlement in Sri Alba, Floria expanded into the area but was hit early with heavy resistance from local tribes formed after the collapse of Antica. This was the biggest resistance to the Florian Manifest Destiny to date. This triggered the Mesounian Withdrawal, a government policy of forced displacement of self-governing tribes of Native Mesounians from their ancestral homelands in the area. From 1697 AN Mesounian resistance started to break down and settlement into the province began with the construction and settlement of Bridgeport and Forzalona.
In the 1720s, the Florian Government under Isabelle Chopin grasped the opportunity to populate the states with "Project Mesoun". An initiative to create four major cities in addition to Bridgeport and Forzalona, and numerous medium-small towns to reduce overcrowding in the West. This would result in the cities of Marinsk, Dongrad, Orslec and Starapol. The culture and cuisine in Mesoun are different compared to the west of the country. it is also significantly poorer than the West and there is a clear West-eastern divide. Despite these challenges, Mesoun is seen as a 'nationalist' state and many residents show immense pride in the Florian military. However by the latter years of the decade dissidence against the Confederate States of Floria Congress arose resulting in the Mesoun Crisis.
