Maschinenpistole 1720 as uses by the Aemilian military

The Maschinenpistole 1720 is a weapon that was developed by Waffenschmiederei Ludwigshafen with the intention to create a new standard rifle for the armed forces of Sankt Ludwigshafen. The weapon was meant to replace the aging Repetierbüchse 1699, and was placed in active service since 1720. For help in the the development of this weapon, Waffenschmiederei Ludwigshafen had reached out to arms manufacturers in other Raspur Pact states. Production of the rifle started in 1719 and in 1.I.1720 the first regiment of the Kriegskorps Ludwigshafen has received the new weapon. It was expected that in 1730 the Maschinenpistole 1720 will have replaced all Repetierbüchse 1699's, except the Präzisionsgewehr 1699 sniper versions which was intended to remain in active service.

Following the fall of Sankt Ludwigshafen in 1722, and the rise of the Confoederatio Aemilia in 1723, the weapon has become the standard service rifle of the Aemilian armed forces.

Innovations compared to Repetierbüchse 1699

  • Uses Raspur Pact standard 7.62×67mmB ammunition.
  • Stock is made out of Waldstahl.
  • The weapon is a semi-automatic rifle, rather than a bolt-action rifle.
