Jennifer Lucía Constantino Reyes (born 14.VI.1720 AN) is a New Alexandrian politician and labor lawyer serving as an independent Deputy for Alduria in the 13th Cortes Federales, elected in the 1754 general election. She is among the 25 independent candidates who won seats in Alduria during that election, part of a broader fragmentation of the DSP's Aldurian base following the death of party leader Leila Bensouda in 1753 AN.

A former member of the DSP, Constantino left the party after Marcos Ferreira Gonçalves was elected leader at convention in XV.1753 AN. She declined to stand under a party she viewed as having shifted its center of gravity away from Alduria and ran instead on a platform centered on labor protections, public housing expansion, and opposition to what she called the "financialization of Aldurian land."

Early life and education

Constantino was born in Piriya, Alduria, to a working-class family. Her father was a dock supervisor at the port of Piriya and her mother worked as a public school teacher. She attended public schools in Piriya before enrolling at the University of Punta Santiago, where she studied law. She completed a Juris Doctor and wrote her thesis on collective bargaining rights in the Aldurian petroleum sector.

After graduating, she founded the Aldurian Workers' Legal Aid Center in Piriya, a non-profit providing free legal representation to workers in disputes over wages, workplace safety, and wrongful dismissal. The center handled an estimated 2,400 cases in its first five years.

Political career

Constantino joined the Democratic Socialist Party of Nouvelle Alexandrie in 1744 AN and became active in the party's Aldurian labor caucus. She worked as a volunteer organizer during the 1749 election and was part of Leila Bensouda's extended network of Aldurian community activists who helped build the party's ground operation in the region. She was not a candidate in 1749 AN.

After Bensouda's death in V.1753 AN, Constantino was among those in the Aldurian party apparatus who expressed doubt about the leadership of Gonçalves, a Santanderian legislator whose political base and priorities lay outside the region. She formally left the DSP in I.1754 AN, five months before the general election.

1754 election

Constantino ran as an independent candidate in an Aldurian constituency on a platform positioned to the left of the DSP's revised People's Deal. Her campaign called for a federal rent control framework, the expansion of public housing construction to 80,000 units per year, the nationalization of the Caisse Régionale de l'Alduria in the wake of the PBS banking crisis, and a new wealth tax on property holdings above NAX€5 million. She also proposed a permanent public works employment guarantee for Aldurian workers displaced by the projected decline in Alexandrium extraction. Her campaign was funded almost entirely through small donations from community associations and neighborhood groups. She reported total campaign spending of approximately NAX€310,000, well below the average for Aldurian independent candidates.

13th Cortes Federales

Constantino sits as an independent in the Federal Assembly and has not joined any formal caucus. She was not among the twelve Aldurian independents who entered into a confidence-and-supply agreement with the Federal Humanist Party following the election, and has stated publicly that she will vote against the FHP government on confidence motions. In her maiden speech in the Federal Assembly, she called for a parliamentary inquiry into the PBS banking crisis and accused both the FHP and the DSP of having ignored warnings about property-backed securities concentrations in Aldurian banks.

Political positions

Constantino describes herself as a democratic socialist and has positioned herself to the left of the DSP under Gonçalves. Her stated priorities include federal rent control legislation, the expansion of publicly owned housing, stronger enforcement of labor law in the Alexandrium sector, a wealth tax on large property holdings, and a public employment guarantee for workers affected by economic transitions in Alduria and around the Federation. She opposes the FHP-CGA coalition and has been critical of what she describes as the DSP's failure to maintain its organizational presence in Alduria after Bensouda's death.
