The Imperial Ground Forces is the army branch of the Imperial Forces of Shireroth. It is the oldest and historically most significant military force in the empire. The modern iteration was established in 1445 AN during the reign of Kaiser Brrapa V, originally formed as part of the effort to secede from Audentior.
The origins of the Imperial Ground Forces, however, can be traced back much further—either to the reign of Kaiser Raynor I or, as some assert, to the feudal armies of the Dukes, Lords, and Ladies of Brookshire. This claim would make the army older than the Imperial Republic itself. Throughout its history, the Ground Forces have undergone numerous reforms and transformations, particularly during the 17th century, when it experienced significant decline. By the early 18th century, efforts were made to rebuild and expand it, incorporating elements of the Palatini Corps, as well as formations from the Jingdaoese and Batavian armies.
During the Shiro-Benacian War, the Imperial Ground Forces reached its peak strength, exceeding 10 million personnel. Despite facing setbacks, it secured several decisive victories, ultimately contributing to the signing of the Treaty of Lorsdam. The Kaiser's government, announced that it would drastically decrease the number of troops to focus on a larger Navy and Air Force.
Structure
The primary service branch of the Imperial Forces, the Imperial Ground Forces shall be organized into Corps (Pr. Uihmanz). Each Corps shall have the following organic divisions:

To each combat-ready Corps, there shall be deployed six Legions (Pr. Salb). Legions shall be graded according to their combat role:
- Heavy: armored combined-arms
- Medium: reinforced mechanized infantry
- Light: motorized infantry
- Amphibious: amphibious mechanized infantry
- Air Assault: reinforced helicopter-dropped infantry
- Mountain: light infantry with special training and equipment for high-altitude combat environment
Additionally, legions identified with the honorary of Palatini were granted permission to wear uniform variants associated with the Palatini Corps (from whom the new Palatini Legions were derived), as well as the honor of being recruitment pools for ceremonial duty and/or for life guard duty to protect members of the Imperial Family.
On 1.I.1728, the first such corps, called 1. Corps, was stood up and assigned to the Department of the Confluence. It drew soldiers and equipment from the Palatini Corps, Ducal Army of Brookshire, and the Feudatory Host of Kildare.
