The Grand Army of Aerla, (Commonspeak: Grönd Armë ov Ayrle), often also called the Grand Army of the Republic, are the armed forces of Aerla. It is responsible for the protection of the nation's borders and security of the people. Originally consisting of hired guns and tribal irregulars, the Army went through a restructuring with a formal command structure and protocols.

Noted Units

1st Ranentsian Mountain Division

The 1st Ranentsian Mountain Division (Ranentsian: Първа Раненцска Планинска Дивизия, Pŭrva Ranenska Planinska Diviziya) is an elite combat unit within the Grand Army. Established by veteran Ranentsian mercenaries after the absorption of their homeland into the Aerlan Autonomous Region. The unit is most famous for being allotted the use of their native tongue within the unit (rather being forced to use Common Tongue, typical of other units within the military), as well as being especially skilled at mountain combat.

The unit was first formed as the 1st Ranentsian Volunteer Guard Battalion in 1709 AN, under the command of Olberzleutant (Lieutenant Colonel) Bogdan Ilev. Ilev, a former commander in Kyustendil's Self Defense Militia, was inducted into the GAR (as he had helped immensely with helping the army secure the Kyustendil region) and helped train the soldiers in guerrilla and mountain warfare. After growing in size from battalion to a division, it officially became the 1st Ranentsian Mountain Division in 1724 AN, where it was attached to the 3rd Army.

The division is currently headquartered in the town of Tepole, northwest of Kyustendil. It is under the command of the now Generalleutant Ilev.

13th "Khamil" Infantry Division

The 13th Infantry Division (Khamil: On Üçünçü Askerler Diviziyası) is the only all Khamil division in the army. Founded after the Khamil Khanate's annexation into Aerla, it is commander by Generalmæjor Abdukadyr Beg. Its main objective is to defend the northern frontier of the Khanate. It is headquartered in the village of Mariq.
