The Gerenian National Games (Gerenian: Kigerenetoles Gherenies) is a multi-sport event, held every two years in Gerenia. Athletes are strictly amateur only, and represent their province.

The first National Games were held during the summer of 2016 in the cities of Ramez and San Martín, in Ramez Province.

History

The National Games were created in 2014 by the Gerenian Ministry of Sport in order to encourage the practice of various sports througout the country. Until that year, the best efforts of the Ministry were aimed to football (professional as well as amateur). As an example, the Provinces' Cup is an annual football tournament for provincial teams composed of amateur players only. By motion of the Ministry, the idea was extended to a wide array of disciplines, thus being conceived the National Games. By reason of this, it was announced that the Provinces' Cup will be included in the National Games for their first edition, scheduled for mid-2016.

Upon creation of the National Games, the host city for the 2016 Games was agreed to be located in Ramez Province (since 2017, the host city is decided by vote of the Ministry of Sport). In January 2015, it was confirmed the election of Ramez and San Martín as venues of the 2016 National Games.

With the creation of the Micras Games, it was decided that the National Games would not be held every year, but every two years. Due to this, the 2018 edition was cancelled.
