The Euran Gendarmerie, established in 1749 AN in Raspur, is a public order and law enforcement agency subordinate to the General Inspectorate of Eura and Corum. Primarily responsible for the security of strategic communication corridors within the Trans-Euran Command area of operations, including the Pan-Euran Highway and Trans-Euran Railway. It enjoys powers of arrest in Constancia and Zeed, and can cooperate with the civil law enforcement agencies of Nouvelle Alexandrie and Oportia on an invitation basis.
History
During the sixth month of 1749 AN, at the direction of the Committee of Euran Salvation, the Main Bureau of Training and Discipline and the Main Bureau of Internal Security were directed to form a joint working group with a remit to establish the Euran Gendarmerie, effective from IX.1749 AN. An extensive fleet of unmanned aerial surveillance vehicles, available as surplus from the Fourth Euran War were assigned by the Trans-Euran Command to the established strength of the EG, pending the capacity to utilise said drones.
The Federal Gendarmerie of Nouvelle Alexandrie and the Garrisoned Police Force of Zeed were formally requested to dispatch advisory and training missions to support the establishment of the EG.
Initial cadres would be formed by direct transfers of personnel from the General Inspectorate of Eura and Corum as well as the Garrisoned Police Force of Zeed.
The Imperial Institute for Civil Administration and State Authority was invited to present proposals for the organisation and training of the EG in accordance with Humanist principles of efficiency.
The Federal Air Force of Nouvelle Alexandrie was approached regarding the feasibility of operating the mooted drone fleet on behalf of the EG, pending the development of an internal organic capacity, specifically trained personnel and infrastructure.
The Grand Commissariat of Eura and Corum was invited to identify and appropriate a suitable site in Raspur for the cantonments of the EG. Fortunately for the agents of the Grand Commissariat, the recent disorders in the Khanate had depressed the market value of real estate, with the auction houses clogged with the estates of the proscribed to liquidate, it was for that moment a buyer's market. Land purchases on behalf of the EG wound be made through the Androphagos Corporation with ESB Construction being, inevitably, selected as the partner for building the physical infrastructure of the new cantonments. Concerns regarding the procurement process were suppressed on the grounds of state security, and any person in the corridors of power with the temerity to ask impertinent questions about the probity of this approach was gently reminded that the establishment of the EG was an urgent requirement mandated by the Committee of Euran Salvation, which was sufficient in most instances to end the conversation.
