The Eternia national football team is the football team which currently represents the Imperial Federation constituent nation of Eternia, and previously represented the independent nation of the same name. It is a member of the CTFA.

History

The team was founded in 2023 after Eternia's Micrasian claim was successful. The team first competed in the CiboTap 2024 qualifiers the following year, where they placed bottom of their five-team group after losing all of their matches. This form led to a place at the 2024 Emerging Nations Cup, which Eternia would host, but the team were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Lusa. Shortly afterwards, Eternia was annexed by the Imperial Federation, becoming a constituent nation, and retained its separate FMF membership.

In 2025's World Cup qualifiers, the team finished bottom of their six-team group after gaining three points. This showing entered the team into the 2025 Emerging Nations Cup, where they beat Svetostrov 2–0 in the first round before losing to Lusa and Forajasaki, both 1–0, in the semi-finals and third-placed match, respectively, to take fourth spot overall.

Chronological competitive participation

Players

The team is infamous for its insistent practices of only picking its "most experienced players" participating in the nation's various football clubs, resulting in a geriatric lineup that consistently loses its matches on the world stage. Attrition from the team is extremely high, and losses on the field due to health complications from the exertions of playing international sports on the players are a near-constant occurrence. As such, it also has by far one of the largest pools of reserve players in the entire FMF. While attempts have been made to change this practice, it has thus far successfully been resisted by traditionalists who insist that "the sport is sacred, and participation is an honor that goes beyond a need for a cheap win".

Largely because of these factors, the team consistently ranks near the bottom of the FMF rankings.
