Émile Fontaine (Alexandrian: Émile Marie Fontaine) is a New Alexandrian diplomat who serves as the first Ambassador of Nouvelle Alexandrie to Brezovo and Yavorina since 1752 AN.
Early life and education
Fontaine was born in 1704 AN in Chambéry, Valencia. He attended the University of Chambéry, where he studied international relations, and later earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of Cárdenas.
Career
Fontaine joined the Federal Civil Service in 1728 AN, initially working in the Department of Trade and Industry. He transferred to the Department of State in 1735 AN, serving in various capacities in the diplomatic corps.
Prior to his appointment to Brezovo and Yavorina, Fontaine served with the New Alexandrian International Development Agency, where he specialized in programs for small and emerging states. His experience in development cooperation and his Valencian background made him a suitable choice for the newly established mission to Brezovo and Yavorina, whose founder Damek Kmitsan had studied at the University of Chambéry.
Appointment to Brezovo and Yavorina
Fontaine was appointed as Ambassador-designate to Brezovo and Yavorina in early 1752 AN. He participated in the signing of the Treaty of Preplava alongside Secretary of State Jean-Michel Durand on 12.II.1752 AN.
The establishment of diplomatic relations between Nouvelle Alexandrie and Brezovo and Yavorina marked the federation's first bilateral relationship with a newly independent Retic nation, reflecting the historical ties between the two countries through the personal history of Vod Damek Kmitsan.
