East and North Normandie is an unrecognized and widely condemned self-proclaimed state located in northern Keltia. Established in 1745 following the institutionalization of the Keltia Restoration Movement (KLM), East and Normandie is characterized by its extremist ideology, authoritarian regime, and alignment with Vanic religious doctrines. The state is considered a terrorist entity by most international bodies and has no legal recognition in any formal jurisdiction. The entire territory of the state belongs to Normandie, a realm of the Hurmu.
EANN even had its own gau zones, postal lines, and an informal bank. EANN's statehood began to be jeopardized with the Kernevon offensive. EANN then began losing territory one after another. Then, following the signing of the Ashen Accords, EANN was dissolved and its assets were transferred to Normandie. The lordships of Old Gaol, Rohan, Grisboeuf, Grenoble, and Falaise were established in place of the lands held by the old EANN. These regions are also known as Austrmark.
History
The roots of East and Normandie trace back to the insurgent activities of the Keltia Restoration Movement, a radical ethnonationalist and theocratic group that operated in guerrilla form during the mid 18th century. By 1745 AN, the movement had evolved into a more structured and hierarchical organization, and with the collapse of local authority in parts of northeastern Keltia, it seized control of scattered territories to establish a de facto state.
Despite its lack of defined borders and the highly contested nature of its land claims, East and Normandie declared itself the spiritual and administrative heir to what it claims was the “true order” prior to Stormark’s collapse.
Government and Administration
East and Normandie is ruled by a dual dictatorship system, wherein the East Dictator and Normandie Dictator preside over their respective zones of control. While nominally united under the banner of the Keltia Restoration Movement, the two regimes function semi-independently, though they adhere strictly to the same ideological and religious dogma.
The state draws heavily from the political model of Ostland, including:
- A centralized one-party system under the KRM High Command
- A paramilitary police apparatus resembling the historical Gestapo.
- Indoctrination of youth and civilians through state-run propaganda bureaus.
- Persecution and extermination of ideological and ethnic opponents.
The structure of governance is rigidly bureaucratic, with power concentrated in the hands of regional commissars and ideological officers. Local governance is non-democratic and entirely subordinate to military and religious authorities.
