Divine Rain Schematics Circa 2010

Divine Rain originated as a joint Nova English-Normarkan project to establish a military defence system in orbit around Micras. The system was designed by a joint team of engineers and technicians from Nova English Weapons, NESA and the Normarkan firm Seier A&M.

Development History

Initially the project was beset by delays due to strikes undertaken by foreign workers at the development site on the Virgin Islands. However following swift action by the National Police Force the striking workers were deported and replaced by Nova English and Britannian workers from the Britannic Sandwich Islands.

In December 2010 Seier A&M confirmed the completion of the initial system and announced dates for the launch. The initial test firing of the system was to be carried out against an empty section of the Cerulean Sea, with a second test against an uninhabited village within the Evacuated zones.

On the 24th and 26th of December two Arrow of the Lord rockets were launched into orbit, carrying the targeting payload satellites. Following this the system was successfully test fired, witnessed by representatives of the Normarkan, Nova English and Gralan governments.

Divine Rain

The Divine Rain system is an orbital kinetic bombardment system, which launches 6m x 0.3m projectiles made from tungsten from Micran Orbit against targets of the surface of the planet. The payload satellite works alongside a separate targeting satellite which helps to guide the navigation system located on each to projectile to its given target.

The system upon impact with its target has a kinetic energy equivalent to 11.5 tons of TNT and is primarily designed for use in bunker busting and anti-naval operations.

Operations

Divine Rain has not been used in operations since its initial testing and following the collapse of the Faedertellus, the operational NESA team fled from the Jeremy II Space Centre on the Virgin Islands and relocated to a former NESA facility in Eastmoorland. After the re-emergence of the Faedertellus under the Provisional Witan, control of the system was handed back to the Ministry of Defence as a weapon of last resort.
