Seal of the Department of Civil Works and Transportation.

The Department of Civil Works and Transportation is the department that establishes and coordinates national infrastructure policy and basic laws related to the development, maintenance, and expansion of infrastructure, preserving and developing the nation's water resources, construction of government urban and rural projects, development of urban rail and public transport, rural development and transport projects, roads, railways, airports, housing, and other large government civil works projects. It also handles the management and construction of coastal, river, and land reclamation and restoration projects. The Department is also tasked with the development and coordination of policies that will provide an efficient and economical national transportation system, with due regard for need, the environment, and the national defense.

The Department of Civil Works and Transportation works closely with the Department of Interior and the Department of Defense on matters of common policy, especially the promotion and development of civil works and government projects for the improvement of national defense and/or inter-regional commerce and transport.

The department is headed by a Secretary of Civil Works and Transportation, who is appointed by the King on the advice of the President of the Government. The Secretary of Civil Works and Transportation is a member of the Council of State.

The department was established in 1686 AN as part of the New Prosperity Plan to administer some of the largest parts of the Plan. Of special note were some of the largest improvements to urban transport, roads, railways, airports, and ports of the Plan, making this Department one of the largest departments in the Government during the heyday of the New Prosperity Plan under governments led by the Coalition for Federal Progress and the Federal Humanist Party.

The Department of Civil Works and Transportation is headquartered at East Meadow Tower Building, in the Government Triangle neighborhood of Cárdenas, FCD.
