Cheetahs XII FC ("Cheetahs Twelve"), also known as Mataba CHEETAHSXII, is a Matabese developmental professional football club which plays in the Daau Super League.
History
The club was founded with the goal of pushing youth football in Mataba by setting up the club for youth players to gain first team minutes while at a young age The young cheetahs made their maiden debut in the 2022–23 Liga Mataba. The club would win their debut match with a 1-0 victory over Mataba Sailors in the league, with a late goal from Daniel Mann to seal off the game. Manager Fahmi Ohmid left the club following mutual termination for Krasno giants Belaov Treble in late February of 2023, which then saw assistant manager V. Poojary become the permanent manager of the side as there were no suitable candidates. Prior to Fahmi's departure the club managed a 3rd place finish prior to the league break, breaking all prior records of the club's top finish.
The Young Cheetahs would finish 4th in the league prior moving to the Daau Super League and would extend manager V. Poojary's contract until August 2024. The club would announce the shock signing of Shamal Nuar ahead of their Daau Super League campaign alongside Oportian goalkeeper Maxence Girault. The Cheetahs would shock all fans and pundits alike by finishing in second place in their maiden Daau Super League season, finishing above league giants Daau United and Bintang Lukana. V. Poojary's contract was not extended as he personally rejected the terms of his new contract and would be seeking pastures new.
Former Belaov City manager Josip Ruiz was signed in as the new head coach for the upcoming 24-25 season. On February 2025, it was announced the club was under discussion on whether the team would compete in the 2025–26 edition of the Daau Super League as the current agreement was only for 2 seasons onwards from 2023. Rumours surfaced of the club returning to compete in the Liga Mataba or disbandment was on the brink.
Goal
Serving as a platform for young and talented Matabese footballers who are looking to jumpstart their careers by pushing for a move overseas, the Cheetahs Twelve will be competing in the Daau Super League for the 2023–24 edition to further develop the next generation of Matabese footballers and also allow some seniors to experience what its like playing in a more intense league. The team is also able to represent Daau in contiential competitions if successful and has been granted special permission to sign up to 4 foreign players or 4 Dauian players.
