Abendinsel

Abendinsel is an island in the Light region of Walstadt and Light in the Lanzerwald Republic. It is sparsely populated, with only a few villages of less than one hundred inhabitants, who mostly survive through subsistence fishing. The island is home to an ecological research station, associated with the University of Walstadt.

Colonial history

Abendinsel, somtimes referred to in Sangunese as 夕島 or Yūjima, was a lordship and island in the province of the Islands of Light (Whales, Natopia). In 1698, it was carved out from the former lordship of the New Territories. This obscure territory had been brought to order by the hitherto little regarded efforts of Augustin Engels-Kammersdorf, a Cibolan-Saxon emigre from the Lanzerwald who had been active in the territory since the Lanzerwaldian-Whaler War, and who was subsequently recognised for his efforts in 1719 AN through his appointment as "Grand Pensionary" of the Principality of Whales by the reform-minded Prince of Whales, Daniel Lors Simrani-Kalirion.
