Andries van Oudorp was a civil service officer in the service of the Principality of the City and Country of Taktwinkel, one of three original jurisdictions of the Confoederatio Aemilia. His job was to interview migrants to the city of Taktwinkel and determine whether they had the qualities to make them a good fit for the city. He was known for his impeccable taste in clothing and expected immigrants to be dressed to the same standards.
During the War on the Blue Menace in 1733, Andries van Oudorp met Galadriel Camel, who shared his dislike for ill-fitting denim shorts and they started a romance. The two married at the Rosaburg, off the coast of Stadt Sankt Rosa in 1735.
In 1749, Andries van Oudorp was appointed by Princess Emilia Antoinette to be her chargé d'affaires with regard to aesthetics. His job was to travel through the federation and meet with manufacturers, builders and importers to make sure that ugly design would not get a foothold in the federation.
